The Times
I am writing with an opportunity that may be of interest to second years (or all pre-finalists).
The Times are looking for a representative at Cambridge University to help coordinate research for the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers book, and to liaise with the student body on a couple of other projects. This is an excellent opportunity to build up your CV whilst at your final year, and teaches a lot about the world of graduate recruitment.
Full details are here: http://www.finalyearstudentsurvey.co.uk/current_vacancies.php
I'm currently a fourth year at Emmanuel college and held this position for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Best wishes,
Laura Parker

We're pleased to unveil the brand new Varsity Trip website, bursting at the seams with news and information about this December's event in Val Thorens. Head to www.varsitytrip.com for a glimpse of what's in store.
There really is something for everyone in twentyten. VT is the ideal place to learn to ski - you’ll be in the company of hundreds of other beginners and, with unbelievable prices on clothing hire, lessons and ski hire, there’s never been a better time to head for the mountains. If fancy yourself as a bit of a pro then check out our full range of competitions to suit every level. With Val Thorens’ pistes quite literally on the doorstep of your accommodation, and the world’s largest skiing area just chairlifts away, you’re sure to find skiing to suit your ability.
But the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. This year’s entertainments schedule will blow last year’s out of the water (and who could forget 2009’s headliners Pendulum and Chase & Status?). Our purpose-built VarCity will be in a stunning location, and we’ll be hosting a street party, a pool party and a comedy night. Our space-themed opening night will feature an out of this world surprise, whilst the final night festival will play host to some world famous acts.
Varsity Trip 2010 offers you our Main Week package for just £319 (with an amazing 299 places at just £299). You can also enjoy a few more days on the slopes with our First Lift package or splash out on our luxury Deluxe package.
It's the biggest student ski trip in the world, with more history than the Winter Olympics. And in twentyten, we'll be breaking boundaries.
The Varsity Trip Committee

MASTANA
Can you...
- DANCE?
- SING?
- PLAY A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT?
- ACT?
- MODEL in a FASHION SHOW?
- DIRECT / WRITE SKETCHES?
- CHOREOGRAPH?
Yes? Maybe? Not sure but want to try?
Then WE WANT YOU!
Every year, Mastana raises thousands of pounds for charity by bringing together Asian talent for one magical night, in an exposition of world music, a melting-pot of traditional dance against vibrant urban beats, a stage for colourful comedy, and a flaming catwalk. This year, it will be held on Saturday 6th March 2010 at the Cambridge Corn Exchange, one of Cambridge's most prestigious venues, playing to an audience of over 1000 people. And we need YOU to make it happen!
Whether in dancing, music, modeling or acting, we're looking for acts from all parts of the world, covering the entire spectrum, from traditional to modern! We are looking for eastern and western performers (or anyone who can mix the two!) as long as you can take the stage and captivate the audience!
Remember that you don't have to be Asian, size zero, or the best dancer in the university! Mastana is about meeting new people, showcasing Cambridge's talent and raising money for charity. This year, we are proud to support Cancer Research UK and The Manitha Neyam Trust.
AUDITIONS will be held on:
Sunday 1st November, 2-5pm, Mong Hall, Sidney Sussex College
Tuesday 3rd Nov - 5-8pm, Bateman Room, Caius College
Thursday 5th Nov - 6-8pm, Mong Hall, Sidney Sussex College
Sunday 8th Nov - 6-8pm, Mong Hall, Sidney Sussex College
Tuesday 10th Nov - 6-8pm, Mong Hall, Sidney Sussex College
Thurs 12th Nov - 5-8pm, Green Room, Caius College
Please send us an email at mastana-acts@cuhcs.org to book a time slot or feel free to drop in anytime between these times!
Don't worry, it doesn't need to be your actual act, and it doesn't need to be perfect - we just want to get an idea of what you can offer. If you have any further questions, please email mastana-acts@cuhcs.org.uk , and we'll be happy to answer them.
