JCR

Disability Affairs

It is the Disabilities officers responsibility to be part of the Welfare Committee, representing those with physical impairments, mental health issues and Specific Learning Disabilities (SpLDs). This disability officer is a non-intimidating point of contact for anyone with disability-related concerns and can provide information or a sympathetic ear if you just want to chat.

The Disability officer supports the Academic and Welfare Officer and raises any Welfare issues, particularly those relating to disabilities, with the Welfare Committee and JCR, as well as liaising with the appropriate Senior Members of College and the CUSU Students with Disabilities Officer over relevant issues. They provide confidential reassurance, support and advice about who to talk to or what to do next for anyone with a disability issue. It is their job to ensure that students have the degree of help they need to thrive at Murray Edwards College and at Cambridge.
