Week 3 is upon us : for me it's feeling like week 5 of the last 2 terms...
but let's stay focussed !!
http ://www . youtube . com/watch?v=9jK-NcRmVcw
We can do this !!
Anyway, this is a bit of a long email because there's lots happening, but
in particular, 3rd years should look up this yearbook thing : it looks
really good ! And also there seem to be some tickets left for Newnham and St
Catz May Balls, if you fancy going.
Also relevant to all us girls, is the march on Friday 11th (tomorrow!), to
"Reclaim the night", and make the streets safe for women to walk around at
night without a male chaperone : basically they are trying to get more
street lights for Parker's Piece... And we should also remember that we live
in a society that teaches women how to stay safe and not get raped, but
which doesn't emphasize teaching men not to rape women. (Food for thought.
Nom.)
Stay awesome :)
Lots of love,
Laura

1. Student Volunteering Gold Awards 2012
Do you know somebody exceptional who deserves recognition for their
volunteering? Nominations are invited for the 2012 Gold Awards for student
volunteering, run in conjunction with Volunteering England.
The Awards recognise student volunteers for leadership, dedication and
achievement. They provide an opportunity for students to have their
commitment, skills and contribution to the community recognised and to
celebrate the diverse and extensive voluntary activity which takes place
every day across the University.
The University of Cambridge sees public and community engagement as an
important part of its role in society. Work that embraces this includes
educational projects for schools and colleges, performances and workshops in
schools, fundraising for local charities, the lending of facilities to
community organisations, and mentoring homeless people in the community.
Visit our Student Volunteering Gold Awards page for more details and a
nomination form, to be submitted no later than Friday 25 May.
