Welfare Committee

The Welfare Committee is made up of officers that are there to offer help, advice and support whenever you need it!

It's the Academic Affairs Officer's job to look after your academic interests - problems with supervisors, the thirds committee, coordinating subject reps, parts of freshers' week, etc.
The Welfare Officer's jobs include safety issues (eg. personal safety, cycle safety), counselling, and helping to arrange the mothers and daughters scheme in Freshers' Week.

The Disabilities Rep represents disabled MECSU students and address their needs and concerns. She also maintains the Disabilities notice board and assists the Chairs of the Welfare Committee with the organisation of the Mother & Daughter Scheme, the Welfare Library and any other appropriate business. She also liases with Senior Members of College and with the CUSU Students with Disabilities Officer on all relevant issues.
International Office
Sharon Li - jcr-overseas@murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk

The International Officer organises get-togethers for overseas students, liaises with the Japanese students staying in the Kaetsu centre (Oct-Dec), and generally helps overseas students feel more at home.
LBGT Rep
Jessica Murray - jcr-lbgt@murrayedwards.cam.ac.uk

The college has an LBGT Rep for two reasons - to provide confidential support and information to anyone who feels they need it, and to keep students at Murray Edwards updated about CUSU's LBGT campaign, which runs uni-wide social events from club nights to coffee breaks as well as a yearly awareness week on LBGT issues. Check out the LBGT notice board by the library for updates on what's on!

The Women's Officer is responsible for running Women's Group activities in conjunction with the MCR women's officer, and also liaises with CUSU's Women's Campaign.
